News media are the first to report on disasters, political upheavals, and wars, distributing their messages at incredible speed. Art lacks this urgency of breaking news. In a thoughtful way, it operates with events that have already occurred offering viewers a sensual and reflective experience. Art seeks ways to convey messages from diverse sources, fostering different understandings of the message and considering how it communicates with the audience.
“Are you here with us?“ organized by the antiwarcoalition.art in partnership with S&V exemplifies personal messaging rooted in individual comprehension of traumatic experience. Built on the paradoxes of the media message and artistic engagement, this exhibition invites the viewers to redirect their attention from the mechanisms of "informing" towards individual empowerment, emotional attachment, and empathy in a world heavily influenced by media.
