Safety is not merely a feeling but a collective practice---an infrastructure built, maintained, and upheld by people who often find themselves in unsafe and vulnerable conditions. The program "Safety as Collective Practice" features artworks that explore the ambivalent nature of safety as well as the elements that create this sense of security.

It focuses on the work of Belaurian artists reflecting on the problem of repression and structures of care, as well as voices from other geographies - Germany, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, etc. - that show our interconnectedness and interdependence. In the face of danger, traumatic war experiences, and repression, we are equal in our attempts to build a system of safety and protection.

Across different geographies, the safety concern becomes a site of anxiety, dreams, and collective effort. These efforts to ensure safety while also feeling the ground slip beneath one's feet form an essential unifying force and a glue for trans-local solidarity.

The programme is part of the annual antiwarcoalition.art theme Sense of Safety || Lets Dream We Are Equal.
